The short version

• BuyPlusHold is a free tool to organise your own investments. It is not investment advice.
• It never buys or sells anything for you. Every decision, and its outcome, is yours.
• Prices and company data come from public sources and can be late or wrong. Check before you buy.
• Use it fairly, keep your account to yourself, and you can delete it any time.

Who we are

BuyPlusHold is run by Daniel Scarpim as a private person in Germany. You can reach him at [email protected]. These terms apply between you and him whenever you use the site. By signing in, you agree to them.

What BuyPlusHold is

BuyPlusHold helps you plan a buy-and-hold portfolio: you choose companies, set targets and a monthly amount, record your trades, and it calculates a buy list and shows your progress. The guide suggests companies that match your answers, partly at random.

It is a free beta for now, and offered as it is. We may add, change or remove features, and we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors.

Not investment advice

Nothing on BuyPlusHold is investment, financial, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. The buy list, the guide’s suggestions, track-record scores and backtests are calculations based on the data and settings you give it. Backtests show what would have happened in the past, which says nothing reliable about the future.

BuyPlusHold is not a bank, broker or financial adviser, and it is not regulated as one. Investing involves risk, including losing money. Do your own research, and talk to a licensed adviser if you are unsure.

Data from other sources

Prices, exchange rates, dividends and company figures come from public sources such as Yahoo Finance and the SEC. They can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and so can anything calculated from them. Always check the price and details with your broker before you trade.

Your account

• You sign in with your own Google account. Keep it secure and don’t share your access with others.
• You are responsible for the companies, trades and settings you enter, and for keeping them accurate.
• You can delete your account and all your data at any time on your profile page.

Fair use

Please don’t:

• try to access other people’s data or parts of the site you aren’t meant to
• overload, attack or disrupt the site, or get around its security
• scrape or bulk-download data, or use automated tools against the site
• use BuyPlusHold for anything illegal

If you break these rules, we may suspend or delete your account. We will tell you why, unless that would help the misuse continue.

Liability

We are fully liable for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where the German Product Liability Act applies.

Beyond that, because BuyPlusHold is free, we are not liable for slight negligence, as the law allows for things given for free (§ 521 BGB). In particular, the investment decisions you make and their results are your own, including where data turned out to be late, incomplete or wrong.

Ending

You can stop using BuyPlusHold at any time and delete your account on your profile page. We may close the service, and will give you reasonable notice, normally at least 30 days, so you can note down your data first.

Changes and law

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you on the site before it takes effect, and the date at the top changes with it. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.

German law applies. If you are a consumer in another EU country, you keep the protection of the laws there that can’t be waived. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
